"Native Plant Gardening in Mt. Washington Valley "

Jane moved to Glen in 2020. She purchased a home with a sad and neglected yard. Her vision was to create a beautiful garden which would also sustain birds, caterpillars, moths, butterflies and other wildlife. At her Newton, Massachusetts home she had a traditional garden for many years. When she retired, birding and bird conservation became a major focus. In order to transform the sterile Glen yard into a vibrant native garden, Jane enlisted the help of a local ecological landscaper - Andrew Johnson of Peak Landscapes in Madison.

After two growing seasons she felt inspired to share the story at http://www.gardeningforwildlifemwv.com. The presentation and slide show will share highlights (and some lowlights too) of this fun and fulfilling project, and discuss some of the reasons native plants are so important. You’ll be treated to plenty of pictures of the garden in various seasons, along with the birds and other wildlife that visit.
