Prevent and Treat Mold on your Houseplant Soil

Mold is a fungus that thrives when there is too much moisture in your soil.  That fuzzy, white mold is not harmful to your plants, but the conditions that cause it are.

PREVENTION:  Don’t overwater your plants….keep them in appropriately sized pots with drainage holes……use soil that is not too dense for water to pass through…..
Remove any dead leaves that have fallen onto the soil….keep your plants where they can get adequate natural light and air flow.

TREATMENT:  Scrape the mold away and then try sprinkling Cinnamon…(which has natural antifungal properties)onto the soil, or buy a household fungicide spray at your garden center.
